The program is for families with school-aged children, up to age 14.
How do I access this service?
The program is spread over 9-weeks for 45-60 minutes. In-person or virtual groups are offered throughout the year, so contact us any time to find out when our next program starts.
Do I have to pay for this service?
There is no cost to families to participate. This is made possible by a partnership with Family Resource Networks Alberta.

Functional Family Therapy
In some families, children and teens experience serious problems in school, absenteeism and even interactions with the criminal justice system. Functional Family Therapy (FFT) is an evidence-based program for families of youth, aged 0 to 18 years old, who are dealing with complex problems like delinquency, mental health concerns, criminal involvement, substance abuse and violence. The program helps family members learn new skills and better connect with one another.
As a result, families:
- Increase communication skills
- Build trust and respect
- Negotiate more effectively
- Strengthen family relationships
Is this service for me?
The program is for families of youth, aged 0 to 18 years old, dealing with any of the following challenges:
- involvement with juvenile justice system
- family conflict
- problems at school
- mental health
How do I access this service?
FFT is offered in partnership between Kindred and carya. Together, we are committed to providing seamless service, including a common intake process. Families can call one number at 403.205.5244 to access this service.
Do I have to pay for this service?
Kindred or carya will work with you to ensure finances are not a barrier to service. In some situations, fees will be waived. This is made possible by a partnership with Family Resource Networks Alberta.
